Who likes an Over-Ripe Banana? We ALL SHOULD! Check This Out..

Bananas...they start out yellow and turn brown...between the color changes, they develop little freckles, almost as if they were sun tanning for years.. :)

Well, they also get a little more frail, and then some of us don't want to consume them because they may seem to lose their flavor in this process as well.

Well, guess what...

  1. That's good to know! I love bananas that are nice and ripe. They are so much sweeter that way. One of my favorite breakfasts is a banana spread with peanut butter and topped with sweetened yogurt sprinkled with a few Grape Nuts.

    1. That sounds nice. That would be a good recipe to Blog! Great source of Potassium and Mid-Level on the Glycemic Index (about a 55). My Post-Workout snack at times was an apple with a Tbsp and a Half of Natural Peanut Butter. Apples and Pears are also great Low-Glycemic fruits.

  2. Will putting bananas that are starting to get ripe in the fridge hinder their nutritional value?

    1. Great Question Chuck! Not at all..fruits that we purchase at the store that are 'not quite' ripe will not ripen as quickly because of the temperature preservation when placed in the fridge; this won't hurt the nutritional value. Leaving the bananas out, just allows more brown spots to appear. Leave out one or two bananas as you need them or feel that you will eat them, to allow those one or two to continue to ripen and produce the benefits listed above in the Blog.
